Benzinga: Is There A Pilot Shortage?

from Benzinga October 31, 2016

Frank Holmes spoke recently with Benzinga regarding constraints felt across the airline industry, in particular due to the limited number of pilots. As compared to 15 years ago, and cited in a Bloomberg article referenced by Benzinga, this has resulted in 25 percent fewer flights departing from many cities.

So why aren’t there enough pilots? “The simple fact is there is a lack of qualified pilots to man the planes, and airliners have had to increase the age of retirement for their pilots from 60 to 65,” the Benzinga article continues. Read Frank Holmes’ thoughts on the issue and what it might mean for the U.S. Global Jets ETF (JETS).
